David Smith, Co-Owner / CEO
As the child of a missionary couple, David spent most of his early years in the country of Indonesia. He graduated Co-Valedictorian from Singapore American High School in 1975. David then attended Murray State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1978 with an Area in Engineering Physics.
David cofounded the company Applied Computing Technology (ACT) in Murray in 1980 to write custom software for IBM midrange systems. When he and his wife decided to move to Hopkinsville, they formed a new company Pennyrile Computer Services, Inc. in 1984.
In the beginning the company focused on developing software for IBM midrange systems. The company was later renamed to Cornerstone Information Systems, Inc and has grown into a full service technology company. David retains 50% ownership of the company with responsibilities over Sales, Marketing, Administration and Software Development.
David has been very active in the Hopkinsville community, including a six year term on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce. He continues to serve on the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation Board which participates with the Southwestern Kentucky EDC in recruiting new industries to the Hopkinsville area. David is a member of the Hopkinsville Rotary club and has been a key organizer and planner behind modernization efforts for the Annual Rotary Auction which provides funding for educational loans and scholarships for young adults in Christian County.
David has been married to Hopkinsville native Lisa Bastin since 1978. They have two children and six grandchildren.
