Cornerstone Information Systems, Inc. Awarded Subcontract for Fort Sam Houston, Texas Tri-Service Research Laboratory

Cornerstone Information Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the firm has been chosen as a subcontractor for the Tri-Services Research Facility being constructed at Ft. Sam Houston, TX . The estimated construction value of this state-of-the-art facility is $61.2 million. Cornerstone's primary role in the project is to design and install the secure network for the Tri-Service Research Laboratory which will be located at the Fort Sam Houston military installation.

According to Cornerstone co-owner and CTO, Philip Tillman, "The Fort Sam Houston Research Laboratory secure network has been an exciting project to design and our team is looking forward to begin installation of the technology systems. The size, scale, and security of the facility require very high level training and experience, and we are honored to be selected as a lead technology partner for this project."

The research lab which is a 181,620-square-foot facility that will house research activities for the Army, Air Force and Navy. The building should be completed by the Spring of 2011, and will include energy-efficient features, such as, natural lighting, high-efficiency chilled water systems and energy-recovery systems.

Tillman continued, "The systems designed by Cornerstone will accomplish many tasks for the research facility including providing redundant secure high speed connectivity between all systems and creating cluster environments to perform complex calculations. We appreciate Fort Sam Houston's trust in Cornerstone's expertise and solutions and look forward to working with the base and other vendors on the project."

Upon completion, the facility will enable the Navy and Air Force to simultaneously conduct directed-energy bio-effects research. TSRL is designed to increase the military's capabilities for studying directed-energy weapons effectiveness, as well as conduct research on ways to protect service members from directed-energy devices, and improve the health and safety standards for safe exposures to directed energy.
