Cornerstone Information Systems, Inc. announced today that the company’s former president and CEO, David Smith, has decided to retire on December 31, 2016. Smith’s decision to retire will bring to a close a remarkable career of over 32 years of continuous service to the company and community.
“David Smith has been a great business partner, leader, and friend. He has led the company through both difficult and prosperous years with integrity and wisdom, and we are all very grateful for his dedication to Cornerstone,” said Philip Tillman, CEO.
Smith’s leadership and progressive thinking have helped Cornerstone grow through strategic acquisitions and a dedication to quality customer service. Incorporated in 1984 under the name Pennyrile Computer Services, the company began business with four employees and a handful of customers primarily in the Hopkinsville, Kentucky area. In 1991, the company name changed to Cornerstone Information Systems, Inc. which better describes the broad range of services and products provided by Cornerstone and its commitment to Christian business principles. Today, the company employs nearly 50 people, and has offices in Hopkinsville, Bowling Green, and Owensboro, Kentucky, and the customer base has grown to over 700.
While Smith will remain co-owner of the company, his business partner Philip Tillman will lead the company as CEO, a role he transitioned to in December 2015.
Mr. Smith added, “I am excited that the company continues to grow and happy that our strong leadership team allows me to step back from day-to-day involvement and enjoy more time for travel and family.”
